What do I need to get started?
You don’t need any prior experience. We handle the entire process for you — including LLC formation, business setup, securing a compliant location with office space and parking, document preparation, state filing, and step-by-step approval guidance.

Difference between a Wholesale and Retail License
The main difference is who you’re allowed to sell vehicles to.
A Wholesale License allows you to buy and sell vehicles strictly to other licensed dealers. You cannot sell directly to the public with a wholesale license.
A Retail License allows you to buy vehicles from auctions and sell directly to the public. This gives you more flexibility and higher profit margins.
Can I operate in other states if my license is issued in one state?
Yes. Even if your dealer license is issued in one specific state, you are still able to operate nationwide.
The state the Dealer License is established in does not bind you to that state.
You can purchase vehicles from dealer-only auctions in any state, both online and in person and you can sell vehicles to clients across all 50 states.
Your license allows you to do business nationwide, source inventory from anywhere, and work with out-of-state clients without restriction.
Will I be able to access all dealer-only auctions?
Yes. Once your license is approved, you’ll be able to attend and purchase vehicles from dealer-only auctions both in person and online.
This includes access to major wholesale auction platforms where the public cannot buy. You’ll be able to source inventory at dealer pricing, bid remotely, or attend physical auction locations depending on your preference.

What payment options does Independent Dealer support?
We offer flexible payment options to make getting started simple.
You can pay using debit or credit card, Apple Pay, or bank transfer.
We also offer installment options through our financing partners Klarna and Affirm, allowing you to split your investment into monthly payments instead of paying everything upfront (for example $400/month instead of everything up front)
